Rating Diamond
What's This?
The "Rating Diamond" is the way that I have settled on for giving various media (games, albums, etc) ratings. The general idea is:
- Having "Good" things moves up-right
- Having "Bad" things moves down-right
- Vertical axis is the overall rating, such as what I'd put on a RateYourMusic or a Metacritic CaveatYou might notice if you check my RYM / Glitchwave pages that they don't precisely align with this. There's actually a bit of a slope, i.e. a game being purely to the right of another makes it better in my eyes.
- Horizontal axis is how interesting the thing is
This natuarally categorizes a bunch of different things. Bland and/or inoffensive stuff will tend towards the left, "so bad it's good" stuff goes along the bottom right, cult classics along the top right, etc. I find it to better represent my opinions than the typical n/10 rating.
You Said my Fav Album was Trash ( 。 •̀ ᴖ •́ 。)💢!!! How Dare You !?!?!!1?
It is what it is.
Jokes aside, the "good"- or "bad"-ness ratings are purely subjective. Death Grips - The Money Store having a high badness rating just means it had a lot of things that bothered me specifically, and doesn't necessaily mean it is actually bad, for example.
